Balancing your content with your everyday life and your content creation journey is imperative for success. Consider all aspects of your life when deciding how much content you will be releasing per week or how much you will be streaming. These things can include your work, your family, your health both physical and mental, and household responsibilities. It’s important to look at your typical week and block out time for daily activities. Work your content schedule into your free time. Using a calendar like a google calendar can help schedule your day-to-day tasks.

As content creators, we often ask how often we should post content and/or how often we should stream. There is no right or wrong answer here as consistency and quality are more important than quantity. Let’s go over some things to hopefully help you with setting a schedule for your content.

Tips for scheduling your own content

Deciding your content priorities:

We often want to create multiple pieces of content over different platforms but it’s important to consider what type of content your audience craves and the best time to release content. This will allow you to get better engagement and get a higher return for your efforts.

Finding Content Balance:

You need a balance of content. The quickest way to run out of content is to post the same type of content over and over again. Your content should be reflective of your goals, your industry, and your brand. It’s important to mix up your content so that your audience remains engaged. Your content should include educational/informative content, curated content, and promotional content. A great place to start is the 80/20 rule where 80% is education/informative content and 20% is promotional.

Keep Content Ideas Handy:

At times you might struggle to come up with or find a piece of content to post. It’s a good idea to keep a list of your favorite websites or publications for your industry that you can scroll through to find content ideas. Also, don’t be afraid to create content variations where you can reuse your content later on.

Benefits of Scheduling your content

Establishes a routine:

When you create a schedule and stick to it, you are establishing a routine. You will have more structure and discipline. You’ll spend less time and energy on having to make decisions on when to do something because you will know exactly what to do and when to do it.

Preserves your most valuable resource:

Time is without a doubt your most valuable resource because once it’s gone you can’t get it back. When you have a consistent schedule, it encourages you to stop wasting time on unproductive activities, and in turn, you become more efficient with your time. Having a schedule allows you to focus on tasks and still have time left to spare on the things you enjoy doing.

Progress is easier to Track:

Identifying goals and scheduling tasks to achieve those goals will allow you to easily track your progress. You can review your calendar and reflect on what you accomplished. As you see progress, it encourages you to finish what you started and continue to strive to achieve your goals.

Finally, having a schedule for your content will enable you to allocate your time where it matters most. When you have a plan in place, you can better handle sudden content emergencies. Prioritizing and scheduling allow you to keep on top of your content goals. Don’t skip this step.
